Texas had a lot of timeless music. I like the direction it is going but at the same time artist are not putting out timeless music. Artist are putting all their efforts into a single or a mix tape instead of dedicating time to make a classic album. Making mix tapes with original beats is cool but it's just not the same effect of an album. I remember I couldn't wait to leave school to buy Lil Flip's "The Leprechaun" album from Knowledge Records. I know times have change and I'm cool with that. New Texas artist aren't bad at all but these classics listed will be listened to 10, 15 years from now still. The way the albums are listed doesn't necessarily mean that I rank one higher than the other. This list is my opinion but feel free to add input on what you think. #SWBY 20. LIL O- FAT RAT WIT THE CHEESE
Lil O hit hard with this one and to this day you still hear, "Playas get chose" in the club. LISTEN TO "WE AINT BROKE NO MORE" HERE:
19. Botany Boyz- Forever Botany
I couldn't go a day without jamming this album. LISTEN TO "FOREVER BOTANY" HERE:
18. FAT BASTARD & TUM TUM- RESPECT IT OR CHECK IT
Even though Mr. Lucci and Mr. Pookie had broke the Dallas rap scene wide open, you couldn't sleep on DSR especially these two. LISTEN TO "ON MY SCREENS" HERE:
17. BIG POKEY- HARDEST PIT IN THE LITTER
Big Podena hit the scene like a pit bull smelling blood with this album. This album went so hard. LISTEN TO "BALL AND PARLAY" HERE:
16. C-NOTE- THIRD COAST BORN
C-Note knew what he was doing when he dropped this classic. He had hits on here. LISTEN TO DIAMONDS ALL IN YA FACE" HERE:
15. MR. POOKIE- THA RIPPLA
Mr. Pookie and Mr. Lucci hit the Dallas scene and they stretched all the way to the G. Everybody was jamming these boys. LISTEN TO "CROOK FOR LIFE" HERE:
14. MR. LUCCI- DIABOLICAL
Mr. Lucci has ties to Grambling but he broke boys off in the D when him and Mr. pookie hit with the "crook" themed sound. It was different and unique and it caught and stuck. LISTEN TO "MR. DIABOLICAL" HERE:
13. DEVIN THE DUDE- THE DUDE
Devin the Dude been around awhile but when he released this album around 1998, I must say this was so mellow and playa it didn't come out my deck for two weeks. LISTEN TO "SEE WHAT I CAN PULL" HERE:
12. Z-RO- Z-RO VS. THE WORLD
The title of this album should have let you know where Ro was headed with his music. Z-Ro is arguably Top 5 artist from Houston easy. A lot of people say his music depressing, I definitely don't get that feeling I get a sense of real. LISTEN TO "SWANG ON 4'S" HERE:
11. DJ DMD-TWENTY TWO: P.A. WORLDWIDE
DJ DMD dropped a classic and had arguably one of the best tracks to come from Texas with "25 Lighters". LISTEN TO "25 LIGHTERS" HERE:
10. LIL TROY- SITTING FAT DOWN SOUTH
All I gotta say is "wanna be a baller". LISTEN TO "WANNA BE A BALLER" HERE:
9. BIG HAWK-UNDER HAWKS WINGS
R.I.P. Hawk. This album jammed from beginning to end. LISTEN TO "HATERS LUV WHEN YA DOWN":
8. LIL FLIP- THE LEPRECHAUN
I don't care what nobody says, it is because of this album that til this day I still think Lil Flip one of the hardest to freestyle. I can do that. LISTEN TO "GOTTA BE ME" HERE:
7. BIG MOE- CITY OF SYRUP
The Barre baby. RIP Big Moe like Maan! LISTEN TO "MAAN" HERE:
6. ESG- SHININ' N' GRINDIN'
Some may argue that "Ocean of Funk" is better but naw this was his album here. Don't get me wrong "Ocean of Funk" went hard but when he got Platinum Soul behind him, wasn't no comparison. LISTEN TO "REALEST RHYMIN'" HERE:
5. FAT PAT- GHETTO DREAMS
Definitely a legend gone before he could tear the game up. This whole album could get the club jumping. He was Hawk's brother and a major influence in the Houston sound. LISTEN TO "BODY ROCK" HERE:
4. DJ SCREW- 3 IN THE MORNING
It is because of DJ Screw that this list even exist. Enough said. RIP. LISTEN TO "PIMPIN' THE PEN" HERE:
3. LIL KEKE- DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS
Houston listed "Southside" as the number one song of all-time in Houston. They probably could have did that with this album as well. LISTEN TO "SOMETHING ABOUT THE SOUTHSIDE" HERE:
2. UGK- RIDIN' DIRTY
UGK just celebrated 17 years since this album has been released. I told you I could pop this in and bob my head like they just released this last Tuesday. True definition of timeless, but then again all of UGK's music is timeless. LISTEN TO "HIGH LIFE" HERE:
1. SCARFACE- THE FIX
What can I say. Is this up for debate? 5 mics in The Source and there isn't a song you can skip over. Just like UGK, all of face music is timeless but this was his "IT" album nationally. LISTEN TO "HEAVEN" HERE:
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Dead End Alliance- Screwed For Life
Anytime Trina drops a song about ass and fat, all my G's gone listen. I know the ladies be ready for jams like this. Meek Mill hot right now and he add to the track so she wins. Even if Trina doesn't give you a strong album all her singles gone be strong and carry her. Gotta respect that. Love it mayne. #SWBY
The color changing lizard is back! Chamillionaire is back after what to some may be a hiatus. I would see a song here and there pop up from him but if he fell back to make this EP it was worth the wait. With songs like "Here we go again" where he appears to be addressing some of the issues he has faced recently in the industry, you can appreciate Cham's lyrical value. The song "Reignfall" features the OG Scarface (who appears to be popping up on a lot of music lately, hope he's prepping a new album) and Bobby Moon is so Chamillionaire, that song jam. Enough chatterboxing, check it out for yaself, chamillitary mayne. #SWBY DOWNLOAD "REIGNFALL EP" HERE:http://chamillionaire.com/store/product/35-reignfall-ep-regular/ OR HERE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/reignfall/id675377205 LISTEN TO "HERE WE GO AGAIN" HERE:
Young Salo is back! it's not like he really ever left but finishing college and grinding to become better has him back in the mix and better than before! "Eat Good, Dress Better" is jamming. Even if you will beg to differ, the cover alone will make you listen. This mixtape features the late Lil Snupe (R.I.P), Studieo, Kevin Gates, Dre Prince and Yung Reed. You gotta respect the Miami/Monroe native's mind and his hustle. Holla atcha, I gotta jam the kid in the slab. #SWBY DOWNLOAD "EAT GOOD, DRESS BETTER" HERE:http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/young-salo-eat-good-dress-better-mixtape.90677.html OR HERE: http://indy.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/23281/young-salo-eat-good-dress-better.html

ZAPP & ROGER- SLOW &EASY
FULL FORCE- TEMPORARY LOVE THANG
WILLIE HUTCH- TELL ME WHY OUR LOVE HAS TURNED COLD
Even though the year isn't up yet, it is at its midway point. I am not biased and love all types of music. I don't care if it's on billboard or not. You might want to check a song out on here if it looks unfamiliar to you. I am posting links to each song so you can check it if you haven't. Peep the list and appreciate it. #SWBY
