BIG YUM'S ARTIST SPOTLIGHT- UNDERGRAVITY- HOUSTON, TEXAS

Mac and Adam were born on the Southside of Houston, Texas.  They were born two days a part in 1985, Mac was born May 27th and Adam May 29th.  Their mothers were best friends and planned to have children around the same time.  The two were inseparable from birth.  At a young age they started doing talent shows in elementary and soon became deejays/producers/rappers in middle school, getting paid to deejay parties and were also selling mix tapes.  The duo founded the Space Age Family in 1998 and recruited Mac's younger brother and five other childhood friends including fellow Houston rapper Dante Higgins.  Throughout High school Mac & Adam continued to deejay and make mixtapes all while maintaining good grades.  In college Mac and Adam formed Undergravity(a group consisting of only the two, but they were still under the Space Age Umbrella).  Since they formed the group, they have released two CDs, have had numerous write ups and a nomination in 2011 for Best Group in the Houston Press.  They also have three videos.

UNDERGRAVITY-SPACE JAMS

BIG YUM: What it do Mac, what made yall boys get into rapping?
MAC: My pops sung background for various rhythm and blues acts so we were always around music.  On top of that we were fascinated by what DJ Screw(rest his soul) was doing we had to try it.

BIG YUM: Awwready, I can dig that.  What direction do you feel Houston's music is headed as far as rap?

MAC: You mean is H-town rap headed in the right direction?  I do think so.  At one point it was like, all I was hearing was dance songs but now I am hearing more variety, more Houston.  Plus its a few  upcoming artists that can actually rap.

BIG YUM:  Yeah, I have to agree with you on that.  Being a die hard fan of Houston's sound I thought the dance songs were getting a little out of hand but then I started hearing about cats like yall, Dante Higgins, Doughbeezy, Propain, LE$, and was like the new Houston is bringing back that southern Texas sound.  So what do you be jamming to when you get in the car?
MAC: When I get in my car right now I am jamming Devin the Dude, Mr. 3-2, original instrumentals, old Beanie Sigel, Nas, Messy Marv. That's just to say a few.  But we stuck in the old school, we don't listen to new shit at all.  We be jamming to Luther Vandross, Willie Hutch, Bobby Womack, George Clinton and P-Funk, Cameo, The Dramatics, etc....

BIG YUM: I feel ya, Ima old head myself I'm stuck in the past with music I aint going to lie.  With that being said who is your top 5 Houston rappers of all time?
MAC: My top 5 Houston rappers would be Fat Pat, Scarface, Devin the Dude, K-rino, and the 5th slot is still up for grabs.

BIG YUM: That's what's up G, well it was good to chop up game with you, and learn a little about what yall got going on, until next time G Ima continue to jam yall and put it in they face mayne.

MAC: We appreciate you homie, 100.

BIG YUM'S ACTOR SPOTLIGHT: RICHARD GALLION

Richard Gallion is a 27-year-old actor/model who grew up in a single parent household with seven siblings.  Originally, from the K-Town neighborhood, which is located on the West Side of Chicago, Richard moved to the Up-Town area when he was 12.  It was there where Richard excelled in basketball and football.  Of the two Richard grew to love the game of basketball more, dedicating himself solely to the sport because he concluded that basketball would make him rich someday.  Praying, shooting at least 500 shots a day and watching basketball film on YouTube were daily rituals that kept him on the road to success.

After graduating from Lakeview High School, Richard went on to play college basketball at the NCAA Division I ranked Chicago State University.  While playing ball at Chicago State, Richard heard about a Nike commercial that needed basketball players.  He jumped at the opportunity not only because it was a paying gig, but it was an opportunity to star with NBA All-Star Michael Redd.  Of thousands that auditioned, Richard was chosen.  The commercial exposure lead to a photo shoot for Fesup clothing, which in turn led to national exposure as Fesup’s spokesperson.

Low and behold, Richard had stumbled upon a budding modeling career.  He landed a job as a model for the Ebony Fashion Fair, the world’s largest touring fashion show, and to his delight, the exposure from modeling began to lead to opportunities for him to act in theater productions.

From his humble beginnings to stunning modeling career, Richard feels blessed: “I know that God blessed me with lots of gifts, and basketball was a tool to stay in shape and get free schooling.  I know that God put me on earth to serve him as well and a part of my calling is to be a successful model and actor.  I always thought it would be difficult to see my dreams come to pass, but the conclusion I came up with is difficult takes a day and impossible takes a week.”
BIG YUM: Now Rich, I have known you a very long time, what made you choose a career in acting?
RICH GALLION: I got into acting by accident but u never know what God has in store for you.
BIG YUM: Ok cool and since you have been doing movies and stage plays, is there anyone in particular you want to work with?
RICH GALLION:  I would love to work with Denzel Washington.
BIG YUM: What is the daily routine of Richard Gallion?

RICH GALLION: I wake up daily and I pray and read my bible for a little, then I study my acting(i.e reading scripts, writing, rehearsing to myself, etc.).  If I have rehearsal for a play or movie I go work on that and I definitely hit the gym.  A healthy lifestyle is a must, I enocurage everybody to live healthy even you LeShaun (laughs).

BIG YUM: (Laughs) Yeah you do all the time and I am getting there no doubt.  Is there any difference between basketball and acting, as far as work ethic?

RICH GALLION: There isn't really a difference.  The only difference is with acting my body isn't taken any abuse and I don't have to be pumped to perform well.  But with both you have to have confidence, dedication, passion, commitment, etc...  You have to work just as hard with acting as you do basketball because you can be fussed at for forgetting lines and slowing down production.

BIG YUM: I feel you, do you have any celebrity crushes?

RICH GALLION: I use to have one on Halle Berry but who didn't (laughs).

BIG YUM: True, true although me myself has always crushed on Raven Symone but hey it's not about me, the ladies want to know is Richard Gallion single?

RICH GALLION: Nope, I am not sorry ladies.

BIG YUM: That's ok more for me (laughs), what's in the future for Richard Gallion

RICH GALLION: The future for Richard Gallion is alot of programs for the youth all across the world. I want to give back to the children of our future.   Also I have two upcoming movies coming out starring me they are titled "The Black Butterfly" and "The Good Life", look out for those.  Also, the people can get both my plays featuring stars like Ginuwine, Shirley Murdock, Darrin Dewitt Henson, and many more on Netflix and in Redbox.  Those plays are titled "The Ideal Husband" and "Love Me or Leave Me".

BIG YUM: Well, Rich it's been a pleasure thanks for the interview, until next time brother.

RICH GALLION:  The pleasure was all mine's.  Thanks LeShaun, I really appreciate it, God bless.

MARRIAGE DONT LIVE HERE ANYMORE

My grandparents have been married for 60+ years and throughout the years they have had ups and downs but they are still holding and enjoying life.  Where are those marriages now?  They don't exist anymore.  Nowadays and my generation is just as guilty but our younger generations that have come after our parents and grandparents are not into the word of God like we are suppose to be.  Therefore we take marriage as a joke.  The Lord tells us that we should become one with the opposite sex of our choice[not the same sex] and enjoy boku sex in the wed bed.  But we don't listen so we fornicate when we want and have plenty babies out of wed lock which is one of the main reasons child support exist.  Men don't want to be married because we feel like our freedom to fuck all the women we want will be taken away and women don't want the longevity of the marriage but want a playa proposal and a overly expensive wedding just to say it happened.  Some studies say marriages amongst young couples are lasting 3-5 years at the most, but I have seen marriages that don't even make the 90 days.  Celebrities don't make it no better they are in and out of marriages constantly and because of technology and social media, the youth are hip to this "trend" because they can see it and they think that's how it's suppose to be.  Attn: God does not like divorces!  It's as much a sin as fornicating but fuck it we gon do it anyway who cares what the Lord thinks right? (Sarcastic tone)  Y'all crazy when I get married future wife you are stuck wit me, know that.  It's Big Yum mayne........ #SWBY

TAKING SOCIAL NETWORKS TOO SERIOUS?

In a day and age where social media has totally taking over the way we communicate with one or another or the convenience of talking to the "stars", is social networking being taking too serious?  There are females who act holier than thou on these sites but in the "real world", their private space done had more bodies in it than a morgue, and they get upset when people, mainly men be vulgar with them on here as if they feel that we are putting them "on blast" about something everybody already knows.  Talking about sex on social networks is not putting your business out there.  Putting your business "out there" is doing shit like exposing ya family, exposing the fact that you are mad at something or people, every time you have a problem with somebody you take straight to these websites all upset and shit, etc...  People kill me getting all upset when they see people cursing or talking about certain shit on these networks as if these websites weren't created for grown-ups originally.  Well I tell you one thing I will never censor myself because when you talk to me in person I am laid back but I am just as raw when I talk.  I honestly don't care if a job observes what I say or do on these sites because they live just like I do, I am not exposing myself I am just being me.  You got corporate heads, teachers, etc., who surf teen chat rooms and kiddie sites because they are pedophiles but these are the same people we are worried about observing a fucking social network to see if we drinking liquor, etc...  Do me a favor and #killyaself with your serious asses and drink liquid fire.....this just the warm up...It's Big Yum mayne
