Former University of Louisiana at Monroe and NFL Defensive Back Chris Harris has decided to retire from professional football after 8 years. He tweeted that "After 8 awesome yrs in the NFL I'm deciding to retire." Harris had a stellar NFL career with four teams. He finished with career stats 16 interceptions, 32 pass deflections, 13 forced fumbles and 439 tackles. His best seasons statistically were in 2007 with the Carolina Panthers and in 2010 with the Chicago Bears. Well it is official, after it is announced on tomorrow, the Hornet will be a memory. The New Orleans Hornets will have a new name, logo, and colors. The changes will be effective at the start of the 2013-2014 season. The franchise will now be known as the New Orleans Pelicans and their colors will be blue, red and gold. The owner Tom Benson wanted to change the name to the Pelicans because of all it represents for Louisiana. It is the state bird, on license plates, the state flag, the state seal and the state painting. The bird symbolizes Louisiana's environmental recovery from oil spills. Don't think for one minute the change will be easy though. There has been criticism about messing with the name just like it was when they were getting rid of the Supersonic name for Thunder in Oklahoma. HARDCORE GANGSTER CHICAGO RAPPER KEITH COZART HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO TWO MONTHS IN A YOUTH DETENTION CENTER AFTER PROBATION VIOLATION FOR BEING AT A GUN RANGE IN 2012. AFTER THE JUDGE MADE THE SENTENCING THE RAPPER BEGAN PLEADING AND CRYING WITH THE JUDGE SAYING THIS VIA DNA CHICAGO:
“I beg you please,” Chief Keef told Juvenile Court Judge Carl Anthony Walker. “Give me one more chance to show you. .. I am a very good hearted person. I have not picked up any more cases… That’s not my life anymore.”
The 17-year-old rapper, whose real name is Keith Cozart, then he broke down in sobs.
But the judge hit him with a two-month sentence, nonetheless. Keef then hugged and kissed his mother and grandmother before heading off to serve his time.
Prosecutors brought the probation violation case against the Interscope Records star after he appeared in a Pitchfork.com video holding a rifle at a New York gun range. Earlier this week, Walker said Chief Keef exhibited a “clear disregard for the court’s authority” in appearing with the gun.
Before being sentenced, prosecutors read lyrics from Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” rap on his “Finally Rich” album, which debuted last month to strong sales.
Prosecutors pointed to lyrics that mentioned gangs and guns, a sign that the teen was unrepentant.
Chief Keef, in addressing the judge, called the lyrics “bull stuff.”
The sentence means Chief Keef will have to delay touring to support his new record.
