THE NBA'S NEW ORLEANS FRANCHISE WILL HAVE A NEW NAME, LOGO AND COLORS

Well it is official,  after it is announced on tomorrow, the Hornet will be a memory.  The New Orleans Hornets will have a new name, logo, and colors.  The changes will be effective at the start of the 2013-2014 season.  The franchise will now be known as the New Orleans Pelicans and their colors will be blue, red and gold.  The owner Tom Benson wanted to change the name to the Pelicans because of all it represents for Louisiana.  It is the state bird, on license plates, the state flag, the state seal and the state painting. The bird symbolizes Louisiana's environmental recovery from oil spills.

Don't think for one minute the change will be easy though.  There has been criticism about messing with the name just like it was when they were getting rid of the Supersonic name for Thunder in Oklahoma.  Tom Benson owns the rights to the Pelican nickname.  #SWBY
